Manufacturing:
TurboCare's Chicopee Office is an ISO 9001 certified facility approved by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited. With over 25 years of turbomachinery experience, Chicopee, Massachusetts (USA) is home to TurboCare Headquarters and a 50,000 square foot (4,654 m2) manufacturing facility specializes in the design, manufacture and refurbishment of labyrinth seals, diaphragms, spill strips, valves and valve stem assemblies, snout rings, bell seals, j-strips and other turbomachinery parts and equipment.
Shop Capabilities:
- Dedicated CNC and conventional lathes along with deep hole drilling capable machines are used to produce our fastener product line.
- Dedicated CNC and conventional milling machines are used to manufacture and rebuild the steam sealing components throughout a turbine.
- Dedicated CNC and conventional lathes along with CNC and conventional milling machines are used to manufacture our valve component product line.
- In house furnaces to control the stress relieving processes.
- CNC and conventional lathes and milling machines produce conventional and articulated snout rings, bell seals, bell seal retaining nuts, expanding bell seals, piston rings and split rings.
- Horizontal boring machine for machining heavy and large components, especially during valve overhauls.
- OD and ID grinding, along with water jet cutting capability.
- Area dedicated to valve overhaul. In this area, valve assemblies will be disassembled, inspected, evaluated and reviewed as to each component's disposition.
- Dedicated welding area for stellite welding and repairs of valve stems, discs, seats and bushings.
- ISO 9001 certified and has complete inspection department including a CMM inspection center.
- Large inventory of raw material on hand to meet customer cycle time.
Field Service, Installation, and Technical Direction:
TurboCare provides comprehensive field services, including seal replacement and removal, and technical direction for steam turbines. With a proven track record of over 600 packing ring installations completed we have the experience to get the job done, not only with highest quality standards.
From years of thermal expansion, heat and pressure changes distortion to the packing ring holders is the most common reason that design clearances are not established at final assembly. These clearances are either too tight causing rubs to the new packing rings or too loose causing excessive steam leakage. This steam leakage bypasses the blades of the rotor reducing efficiency. A modification to the holders and rotor has been increasing over the years due to the many years of service. In some cases the steam turbines have out lived their expectations. One focus has been the installation and custom fitting of packing rings in these turbines, the result is a better sealing, more efficient packing ring. With our fleet of CNC milling machines and trained specialist we have the capability and knowledge to install and custom fit onsite up to the last minute of a turbine overhaul.
In essence, our custom tailoring acts ensures your turbine will go back together as quickly and as efficiency as possible. Even if there is a problem with misaligned turbine parts (diaphragms, rotors, and N-boxes or glands) we can make last minute adjustments to insure a smooth start up. Our trained field Service group is focused on improving efficiency while working in a tight schedule.
