The successful candidate will work with a highly skilled technical team dedicated to developing advanced aftermarket products for use on the installed turbine fleet.  Key responsibilities include support of the Engineering Design & Development group in completing the detailed mechanical analysis of both rotating and stationary turbine steam path components.  The work will require excellent analytical and technical skills and will involve the extensive use of both proprietary internal analysis tools and ANSYS finite element software.

JOB OVERVIEW:
The successful candidate will work with a highly skilled technical team dedicated to developing advanced aftermarket products for use on the installed turbine fleet.  The position will include a period of intensive internal training and represents a unique opportunity to combine an interest in analytical mechanical design activities with applied turbine experience.  Specific responsibilities will include:

- Support of the Engineering Design & Development group in completing the detailed mechanical analysis of both rotating and stationary turbine steam path components.  The work will require excellent analytical and technical skills and will involve the extensive use of both proprietary internal analysis tools and ANSYS finite element software.

- Supporting the Thermodynamic Design and Application Engineering group in completing turbine rerate and analysis projects.  This work will include both thermodynamic and mechanical analysis in both proposal and requisition design activities.

- Assisting with the diagnosis of field operational problems including the metallurgical examination and failure analysis of operating components.

- Supporting cross-functional work with associated TurboCare and associated Siemens facilities to actively participate in the development and application of advanced turbine technologies and to adapt them for cost effective use on installed machines.

- Being part of a team engaged in accurately capturing critical turbine dimensional geometry for use in component failure analysis, engineering design and parts manufacture.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS or advanced degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with ANSYS finite element analysis tools
- An interest in the operation, installation, and design of large rotating equipment
- Steam and/or gas turbine mechanical design experience
- Experience with turbine performance testing
- Computer programming skills
