The primary purpose of this TurboCare position is to file, grind, polish, and/or deburr turbine component apparatus and blades; to inspect blades, and to check the dimensions of blades according to manufacturing specifications.
JOB OVERVIEW:
- Manually grind and/or polish necessary angles. Grind the platform height by following scribed marks and maintain radius blend according to manufacturing specifications and procedures (as close as +/- .015 on the radius and 0+/-.004 on the airfoil).
- Grind, smooth and polish airfoils and leading/trailing edges of assemblies using files, grinders, cutters, or stones.
- Deburr bridge welds; measure, mark, and scribe bridge widths using calipers; operate hand grinder to blend welds and finish surface to meet tolerances prescribed.
- Remove dust, dirt and particles from block surfaces manually and spray on die penetrant. Remove with cleaner. Spray or wipe on developer and observe surfaces for defects such as cracks, pits, voids, and porosity. Manually file or grind defects from surfaces as prescribed.
- Set up and operate sandblast equipment to clean oil and particles from surfaces and/or blend stone marks for uniform finish.
- Follow established procedures to work with welded repair airfoils, tri pins, and ring segments.
- Use basic dimensional measuring equipment to check all work
- Belt or polish tenon according to specifications to fit tenon template and maintain fillet radius and maintain a .001 contour tolerance.
High school education or equivalent.
JOB PREREQUISITES:
- Successfully completed the Industrial Reading Test with a score of 70% or better.
- Successfully completed Blueprint Reading Test with a score of 70% or better.
- Successfully completed Measuring Instrument Test with a score of 70% or better.
- Successfully completed Shop Math Test with a score of 70% or better.
