TurboCare offers electrical testing, troubleshooting and engineering services
on all types of electrical apparatus such as motors, drives, transformers, power
system relays, and switchgear at our Calgary facility.
Motor Testing Services
We perform on-line dynamic motor testing. Information collected helps evaluate
incoming power quality and motor efficiency, as well as rotor, stator, air gap
and power circuit conditions. Our instrumentation simultaneously collects all
three phases of current and voltage to provide spectral and digital data in the
areas of power, motor current signature, efficiency, crest factor, total harmonic
distortion, sequence data, power factor, impedance, current, and voltage.
Off-line motor tests are also available to provide detailed analysis of motor
circuit condition. Our instrumentation features diagnostic results that evaluate
all five of the motor's fault zones including power circuit, insulation, stator,
rotor, and air gap. Tests are completely non-destructive and can be completed
in as little as three minutes. All types of motors -- including induction, synchronous,
wound rotor, and DC motors -- can be tested.
On-line partial discharge monitoring and testing for medium and high voltage
motors is also available.
Power Quality Monitoring
TurboCare offers power quality monitoring services including:
-
measurements of harmonic content;
-
determination of cause of harmonics;
-
logging of general power quality including voltage dips and sags;
-
determination of load flow;
-
measurements of magnitude and frequency of occurrence of voltage surges, in troubleshooting
motor failures;
-
measurement of line voltages at motor terminals fed by Pulse Width modulated
variable frequency drives.
Relay & Switchgear Testing
TurboCare offers testing on power system relays, low voltage and medium voltage
switchgear. Services include:
We can also perform and/or review coordination studies if required.
Coordination Studies
-
calculation of minimum and maximum short circuit values;
-
determination of settings of overload and overcurrent protective devices to provide
for selective tripping under various fault conditions;
-
overload protection of motors, transformers, cables, and fuses;
-
verification of maximum short circuit capabilities of fuses, contactors, safety
switches, disconnects and circuit breakers. |
