Stator winding dry ice blasting consists of the controlled high velocity propulsion of CO2 pellets for the purpose of contaminant removal. Dry ice pellets are much less dense and abrasive than other blast-cleaning media (i.e. corn cob, pecan shell, etc.). Dry ice pellets disintegrate almost immediately upon impact. As such, minimal shock-force is transferred to the surface of the stator winding substrate. Dry ice leaves no residual media contamination, since it naturally evaporates. For its effectiveness, minimal safety concerns, and negligible environmental impact, CO2 dry ice blasting is the preferred cleaning method for stator windings.
