Machine to finished dimensions within tolerances with a wide variety of parts, with little supervision.
Set-up some equipment for operations with supervision or technical support.
Conduct the support work as necessary such as polishing, deburring, shot peen, sawing etc.
JOB OVERVIEW:
- Requires the use of advanced shop mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas and all varieties of precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of machine shop practices and principles of mechanics and working qualities of metals.
- Operate mill and or lathe to perform job. Operate crane and other lift equipment safely.
- Rough and finish machine a wide variety of work not including new and the most intricate and difficult jobs, requiring separate machining to many co-related dimensions in diameters, faces, slots, and grooves with high demand for concentricity, parallelism, squareness, roundness, and surface finish.
- Calculate and set proper tool position. With the use of digital readout system, select proper feed, speed and depth of cut.
- Select all types of cutting tools suitable for working on all types of material and on all types of cuts with some assistance.
- Recognize and work with QA on machining errors.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, dial indicators, feelers, surface gauges, square, protractor, and various gages in order to determine and maintain dimensions and tolerances as required.
- Perform above duties with only some minor assistance. Consistently produce work of superior quality and of above average required quantity.
- Keep work area clean.
- Operate machine tools only within capabilities.
- Complete all records required at completion of operation and/or day.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience
